PROJECT CHOIR "VOICES FOR PEACE"
2016, May 14th - 17th
For more than 20 years Musica Sacra International has brought together singers and musicians from different cultures and religions all over the world to Marktoberdorf. The aim of this musical meeting together is to get to know and exchange experiences with other religions and cultures using music as a common basis and form of expression. The participating ensembles stay in Marktoberdorf for the whole festival and spend their time together. They can experience cultural encounters and musical activities without any linguistic or cultural barriers. In the concerts, given together by the choirs and ensembles, the concert audiences will also have a chance to experience the musical diversity and the spirit of these encounters.
Let yourself become an active part of this cultural musical meeting. Experience Musica Sacra International at first hand as a singer in
„Voices for Peace“, the festival’s project choir!
For the first time we are inviting enthusiastic singers to accompany and contribute to Musica Sacra International in an active way. Sharing the fun of singing with others and exploring new things, combining leisure with education, listening to sacred music from different religions and performing it yourself – that’s what this project is all about.
There are four afternoons of intensive rehearsals of old and new gospels and spirituals under the direction of one of the most famous experts on Afro-American music in the USA. The morning hours are reserved for four half-day choir workshops. Each workshop will focus on the music styles of different religions and cultures.
All this takes place in one of the most beautiful holiday regions in Germany. The Ostallgäu, especially known for the famous Neuschwanstein castle, and the whole of the Allgäu region offer a lot of tourist and cultural attractions.
You will find all the information you need about the project choir on the following pages.
Please remember the closing date for applications: February 29th 2016
